I have an undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from Towson University. I have worked at a bank and presently work at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) as a Career and Academic Advisor. My role is one part of the overall college environment and requires constant communication with students, instructors and department chairs, student services departments, other colleges, affinity groups, and professional organizations. The most interesting part of my job is working with students. I really enjoy talking with them and helping them reach their goals.
I am pursuing a master's degree to work in the field of teaching to further my knowledge of contemporary communications and computer studies. My career goal is to become a college professor of communications. I feel this degree program has helped me to have a better understanding of contemporary communications. This field of study is very interesting to me because of the many possibilities I will have as a professor. Within this degree, I have taken courses with subject matter that I have never learned before. This experience has been very enlightening.
My hobbies include:
Soccer and athletics, which I started participating in at a young age. I enjoy friendly competition and also staying in a healthy shape. I currently play indoor soccer in a recreational league at the College of Southern Maryland. I also frequently use the gymnasium facilities to work out.
Hiking is another favorite since I enjoy working out. I plan to spend this spring and summer hiking and camping with my boyfriend, John.
Reading is an activity that I enjoy because it relaxes me.
