I am currently enrolled in CST 515 as well as COM 506 this semester as part of the requirements towards earning a master's degree in Contemporary Communication. My favorite professor at College of Notre Dame is Barbara Mento. She is such a great educator!
I have an undergraduate degree in Communication, with a concentration in Public Relations. I completed this degree in 2004 from Eastern Connecticut State University. I also minored in Sport Management.
Currently I work at College of Notre Dame of Maryland as the Assistant Athletic Director as well as the Sports Information Director for the college's eight varsity sports. Not only is my job title lengthy, but so are the list of responsibilities I carry. As the Assistant Athletic Dirctor, I am responsible for scheduling, transportation, practice and facility scheduling, among many other things. As the Sports Information Director, I am responsible for keeping the content on the college's athletic website current. I am also responsible for the creation and distribution of press releases highlighting our student-athlete's accomplishments. In addition, I am responsible for keeping track of and archiving all of our athletic team's statistics using a software program called Stat Crew.
One of the downfalls about my job is that it requires many hours at the office. As a newlywed, I am eager to leave this profession sometime soon so I can spend more time with my wife, and eventually kids. My short term career goal is to finish working on my master's degree by the end of the year 2010. I am hoping my master's degree will allow me to find a more regular, 9 to 5 job outside of higher education. One can dream, right?
